This past week we had the pleasure of attending the Henry Bernick Medal Awards at Georgian College! With over 300 guests in attendance, the entrepreneurial community built by the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre and their partners was strong. Lisa Roth-Collins, the Granddaughter of Henry Bernick was able to speak to us about her Grandfathers legacy and we are sure the centre has done him proud!
This event was put on in partnership by the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, McBride Robillard Financial Solutions Inc. – Sun Life Financial, Barriston Law, BDO, and BDC. After the award ceremony Terry O’Reilly was welcomed to the stage to speak to the crowd about the ‘Power of Story Telling.’ Terry spoke about the importance of using emotion in your business’ marketing in order to be relatable and memorable with your clients. He captured the crowd and certainly was memorable!
The Henry Bernick Medal Awards was broken down into three categorizes:
- Student Entrepreneur
- Community Entrepreneur
- Entrepreneur Champion
Georgian College’s very own GCSA president, Avery Konda took home the Student Entrepreneur Medal for one of his business ventures: Growing Georgian. A company committed to giving students in need healthy and fresh foods.
The Community Entrepreneur Medal was given to Warren Patterson of LinkGreen. Warren founded LinkGreen to help retailers connect with wholesalers with a seamless process.
Lastly, the Entrepreneur Champion Medal was given to Sandy Robertson, the founder of the Georgian Angel Network. Sandy spends a majority of his time coaching and mentoring new businesses. He has taken many small businesses and grown them!
Congratulations to all of the medal winners!
